Adopt an Orangutan

Orangutans are in grave danger of extinction because their natural habitations are being converted for human use and conservationists are worried that the world's largest population of wild orangutans in Borneo in south-east Asia will die out within three years.

It is now estimated that there are less than 20,000 orangutans left in Borneo, down by a third in just a few years.

Orangutans are the world's largest mammal that live in trees, meaning they are arboreal. The animals spend about 99 percent of their time in trees sleeping and eating fruits, leaves, seeds, bark and insects.

When trees disappear, the orangutans have nowhere to go and nothing to eat. It is more than possible that these wonderful animals may be totally extinct within our lifetime.

You can make a difference with our adopt an orangutan gift pack. Your sponsorship money will go towards helping WWF to safeguard the future of wild orangutans, and tackle some of the biggest conservation challenges that we face today.
