Adopt a Panda

Adopt a Panda: Adopt a real Panda with this Adopt a Panda gift pack and help safeguard the panda species. The WWF Adopt a Panda is a great cause. When you adopt a panda, you not only protect a panda, but safeguard the future.

Adopt a Panda

Giant pandas are victims of poaching, or illegal killing, as their dense fur carries a high price in illegal markets in the Far East.

The panda's natural habitat is also in danger because of the destruction of the forest, mainly due to China's rising population requiring housing space.

A single panda will consume 40 pounds of bamboo a day to keep full, but as the bamboo forests are torn down, pandas are literally dying of starvation. Each year an area of forest larger than the UK is lost - a rate of 30 hectares every minute.

Right now pandas are among the rarest mammals in the world -- there are probably fewer than 1,000 left in the wild, with 140 held in captivity in zoos across the world.

You can do your bit to help preserve these wonderful creatures with our adopt a panda gift pack.

Your sponsorship money will go towards helping WWF to safeguard the future of the panda, and tackle some of the biggest conservation challenges that we face today.
